Dare Program Gets Donation From Sears Store

Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Coeur d’Alene has donated $1,000 to the Kootenai County drug education program. The store handed over the check recently to the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program as part of the Silver Lake Mall store’s re-grand opening celebration.

Employees decided to give money to DARE to help children become responsible adults, said Diana McLean, store manager.

The money will be used to buy teaching supplies for the nearly 1,700 fifth- and sixth-grade students involved in the DARE program, said Don Kline, Kootenai County sheriff’s department DARE officer.

Kline said donations from local businesses pay for the DARE program, which is taught by officers from the sheriff’s department and Coeur d’Alene, Rathdrum and Post Falls police departments.
