Man To Stand Trial In Attack On Teen Girl

A judge ordered a 25-year-old man on Tuesday to stand trial on charges that he forced a teenager to have sex with him in a motel bathroom.

Ernesto N. Espinoza is accused of attacking the 13-year-old girl on Dec. 2, 1995, in a Motel 6.

The Hayden Lake, Idaho, girl, now 15, testified Tuesday at a preliminary hearing that she and Espinoza, then 23, were drinking beer in the motel room with a group of friends.

Espinoza attacked her in the bathroom after she helped another girl who had gotten sick, she said. Espinoza held the door shut with his leg, put his hand over her mouth and pulled her pants off while her friends kicked at the door, she said.

Magistrate Paul McCabe ordered Espinoza’s bail of $10,000 to be continued. Espinoza has been held in the Kootenai County Jail since his arrest Oct. 10.
