Youngest Huard Chooses N. Carolina

Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Luke Huard, the third and final quarterbacking brother of the Puyallup family, announced Tuesday he will attend North Carolina, turning down offers that he said included Washington and Oregon.

“It’s somewhere I can go and do my own thing,” he said.

His older brothers, Damon and Brock, have been the primary starters at Washington since the 1993 season began. Luke, 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, has led Puyallup to a 7-0 record with 1,402 yards passing and 24 touchdowns.

“Even though it’s a long way from home,” his father Mike, the Puyallup High coach, said good-naturedly, “I’ll have to get some (Carolina) blue, I guess.”

As a prospect, most services rated Luke closer to his brother Damon than Brock, somewhere behind the top-ranked quarterback recruit in the state, 6-5, 205-pound Jared Jones of Walla Walla.
