George Jones Will Play Bingo

Country icon George Jones - a champion of traditional, honky tonk songs full of tales of lost loves and dreams gone sour - will be performing at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo Casino on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Jones is one of the most prolific singers in country music history, having recorded more than 100 albums since 1954. He has racked up a string of hits over the years, including “White Lightning,” “You Done Me Wrong” and “We’re Gonna Hold On,” one of several songs recorded with Tammy Wynette.

Both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music named him male vocalist of the year in 1980, and the CMA did it again in 1981. The ACM presented Jones with the Pioneer Award in 1992.

His album “I Am What I Am” went gold in 1981 and “Still the Same Ole Me” went gold in 1990.

Tickets to Wednesday’s show are $20, available at G&B Select-a-Seat outlets or call (800) 325-SEAT. Doors open at 5 p.m.
