Three Competing For Council Posts

From Staff And Wire Reports

Nora Sharp, Dan Montgomery and Todd Walker are competing for Hayden Lake’s two open City Council seats.

One of those slots is being vacated by John Wilkey, who is running unopposed for mayor.

The elections will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 10823 Lakeview Drive.

Sharp would like to see bike trails and a park. She wants to keep the town attractive and maintain city services “while trying to keep the levy rate going down.”

She owns the Insurance Shop with her husband, Bob, who is stepping down from the City Council.

Walker, a furniture maker, narrowly lost a write-in bid for mayor during the most recent election. He has served on the local water and sewer boards and on a committee to write the town’s comprehensive plan. He worries that the plan isn’t being implemented fully.

“Some more steps could be taken to protect the lake,” he said.

Montgomery, a retiree, could not be reached for comment. , DataTimes
