For Gellhorn’s Sake, Enjoy

If you attend the Spokane Symphony’s concert in Comstock Park tonight and a moment of rapture overcomes you, thank Katherine Gellhorn.

If you attend any cultural event this year - a play, a concert, an opera and feel uplifted and enlightened, thank Katherine Gellhorn.

Gellhorn died Aug. 22. For 40 years, Gellhorn’s enthusiasm, passion and downright pushiness for the arts helped Spokane evolve into a respected arts center. A city with a small-town feel that can boast about its big-city symphony and award-winning community theaters.

Cultural events, such as tonight’s park concert, won’t feel the same without Gellhorn sitting alongside her longtime arts compatriot Bud Cox.

But Gellhorn’s passion can live on through all of us. This year, attend one cultural event in honor of Katherine Gellhorn. She’ll thank you, in spirit.
