Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: A few weeks ago someone wrote to you about recycling paper and cardboard. She mentioned cereal, tea, cracker and other boxes as being recycled.

I would suggest calling your local recycling center and asking them if they recycle those boxes. Ours doesn’t.

Another alternative would be to call local grade schools or day-care centers to see if they would like the boxes for projects or just to draw pictures on them.

Thank you for your column. April Louise Olson, Chewelah, Wash.

Some great ways to use cotton balls:

Give to pet birds (finches) for nesting material.

Use as stuffing for craft projects.

Use bag and all for packing when shipping something fragile.

Use for children’s craft projects. - Heloise
