Cancer Group Holds Benefit

Nina Culver Correspondent

Cancer Patient Care, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income people diagnosed with cancer, will present “Splendor in the Glass,” a wine-tasting and auction, Friday night.

The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. at Crescent Court Ballrooms II and III at 707 W. Main.

There will be both a live and silent auction featuring a Caribbean cruise, a life-size children’s playhouse, a trip to Niagara Falls, a hot tub, original artwork by regional artists, a flight in a private plane, and celebrity items.

Tickets to the event are $20, which includes wines from Caterina Winery, Mountain Dome champagne, dessert by Catered for You, a pasta bar and salads. Tickets are available by calling 456-0446.

All proceeds will benefit Cancer Patient Care, which provides home health care equipment, food supplements, clothing assistance, transportation and financial assistance for treatments and emergency needs. Services are provided free of charge, so the organization depends entirely on donations and fund-raisers to keep the doors open.

Organizers hope to raise $50,000 from this event, their largest fund-raiser of the year.
