Five Mile Meetings Scheduled

Five Mile Prairie Neighborhood Council has scheduled two community meetings, one tonight at 6:30 p.m., the other next Thursday at 7. Both meetings will be held at the Five Mile Grange Hall.

The agenda for tonight’s meeting includes updates on proposed subdivisions including Summerhill, Willow Run and Prairie Breeze.

A representative from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife is scheduled to lead a discussion on prairie wildlife habitat.

The group will be asked to decide whether to hire professional experts to assist on neighborhood issues, such as drainage.

The group will also consider asking the city and county to temporarily suspend development on the prairie.

The agenda includes a proposal to add a historic preservation committee.

On Sept. 11, the neighborhood plans to meet with county Commissioner John Roskelley, city council members Cherie Rodgers, Phyllis Holmes and Roberta Greene, and other county and city staff.
