Hayden Gets Two Deputies

Two deputies added to the Kootenai County sheriff’s department with federal grant money have been assigned to patrol the city of Hayden, the sheriff announced Wednesday.

The department will receive $150,000 over three years from the federal Bureau of Justice Administration’s “COPS Fast” and “COPS More” grant programs to pay for the deputies, Sheriff Pierce Clegg said.

The city of Hayden must match the grant money by providing police cars and other equipment for the deputies.

Deputies Stu Miller and Ed Anderson began their assignments in conjunction with Hayden Days on July 25, bringing the number of deputies patrolling Hayden to four.
