Man Sought In Attempted Rape

Police are investigating a Coeur d’Alene woman’s complaint that a man she met at a bar late Tuesday tried to rape her.

The 36-year-old woman struggled briefly with the man before fighting off her attacker, according to a police report. The woman’s shirt was torn during the tussle and she suffered a large scrape on her right arm, but was not otherwise injured.

According to a police report, the woman met the man at Gibb’s Tavern and went with him to Regina Bar. The two then took a taxi to see a friend of the woman’s.

That friend let the two inside his house, but left them alone in the living room when he went to bed. A few minutes later, the man forced the woman onto the couch and tried to rape her, the report said.

The woman scratched at her attacker’s face and fought with him until he eventually left.

The man was last seen heading west on Lakeside Avenue. He was wearing a green shirt, light blue shorts and carrying a green bag.
