Token Of His Love Found In Wreckage

Associated Press

Dodi Fayed gave Princess Diana a $205,400 diamond friendship ring shortly before the car crash that killed them, according to London news reports Thursday.

The diamond ring was found in the wrecked car in Paris following the crash early Sunday, The Sun reported. It said Fayed gave Diana the ring over dinner at the Ritz Hotel in Paris Saturday night.

The reports quoted Paris jeweler Alberto Repossi, whose store is near the hotel, as saying Fayed asked him 10 days before the accident to create a one-of-a-kind ring for Diana.

“He told me how much he was in love with the princess and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.”

The reports said Fayed collected the ring from the store on Saturday evening shortly before the dinner with Diana.

The ring is thought to have been handed to Diana’s sisters when they went to Paris with her ex-husband Prince Charles to collect her body on Sunday.
