Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: As soon as I bring home a new garment, I immediately put a drop of clear nail polish on the threads of each button. Thanks to this procedure, I have never lost a button. On those with expensive material, I put the drop underneath the button.

In either case, it never shows, and it secures the button for a very long time. Barbara Clarkson, Liberty Lake, Wash.

Dear Heloise: Those plastic scrubbers for dishes or pots and pans were always a mess at our house.

Every so often I would put them through the dishwasher. Finally, I decided to keep them in the dishwasher. They live with the dirty dishes when they are dirty and always get washed! - Patricia Riley, Wilton, Calif.

Yup, your hint is one that I like. A note though, please be sure you secure the scrubbies on the top rack so they don’t mess up the machine. - Heloise
