Murphy Resigns Chamber Post

After three years as its top staff member, Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce President Ray Murphy has resigned to pursue business interests.

Jim Huttenmaier, who will serve as the Valley chamber’s interim director, said Murphy’s resignation is effective Monday.

Murphy could not be reached for comment Friday, but chamber officials said his business involves putting Internet capability on television monitors.

Chamber board Chairman Robert Henry praised the efforts of Murphy and Huttenmaier in boosting chamber membership to 750 from 500 in the last two years. Murphy, who was executive director of the Moscow, Idaho, chamber before coming to the Valley, will remain a chamber member.
