Suspended Officer Denies Lying To Colleagues

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane police officer accused of lying to colleagues and preparing a false police report denies any wrongdoing, his lawyer said Friday.

Markus Meehan, 31, plans to take his case to trial to clear his name, attorney Carl Oreskovich said.

Oreskovich declined to discuss the specific charges against his client.

Meehan was cited with three misdemeanors and suspended with pay this week after an investigation determined he lied to fellow officers to protect a woman wanted on a warrant, police said.

Other charges may be filed, including associating with prostitutes and using drugs.

Meehan worked as a patrol officer on the graveyard shift and was assigned to the northeast part of the city. He has been on the force for four years. , DataTimes
