Woman Injured As She Tries To Stop Thief

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane woman who tried to stop the man who stole her purse was thrown from the thief’s pickup truck Thursday night.

The 41-year-old woman suffered injuries to her legs and ribs, police said.

The theft happened at 8:15 p.m., moments after the woman, a clerk at Fasmart, 8213 N. Market, arrived at the station. Her purse was sitting on the counter and the thief grabbed it and ran.

She chased the man to the truck and reached into the open driver’s side window to grab the keys out of the ignition, police said.

The thief drove away with the woman hanging on. He knocked her off by driving close to a pole, police said.

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. The truck, an orange Isuzu with a black stripe, is believed to have Washington license plate 83569Z.

Anyone with information about the theft should call Crime Check at 456-2233.
