Cda Blows By Lakeland

Janee Andre scored her four goals during the first 60 minutes Saturday, leading Coeur d’Alene to an 8-1 North Idaho League girls soccer win over visiting Lakeland.

Lauren Vogt added a pair of late goals and Jaime Jerde assisted on two of Andre’s scores.

Cara Barnes’ goal at 10 minutes for the Hawks tied the match at 1 until Andre’s second goal, at 21 minutes.

Also in the league, Jessica Tangen and Julie Jacobson scored second-half goals to lead Sandpoint (2-0) to a 2-1 win at Moscow (1-1).

Moscow missed a wide-open scoring attempt in the first half and a penalty kick in the second half. Holly Davidson connected on another penalty kick, with a minute left.

Volleyball

Janelle Ruen had seven kills and served six points in the second game to guide Post Falls to a 15-7, 15-5 Inland Empire League win over visiting Lewiston.

Rachel Edmonds added 12 assists for the Trojans, who served successfully 43 of 45 times.

Powered by Courtney Goetz’s eight kills, Moscow (2-3, 1-0) scored a 15-2, 12-15, 15-9 Intermountain League decision at Kellogg (0-4, 0-2).

Kellogg’s Amber Goodson had eight kills.

Lakeland topped the host Scotties 15-11, 15-11 to claim third place at the Freeman Invitational.

In pool play, Lakeland defeated Kettle Falls, Riverside and Medical Lake before losing to Wilbur-Creston.

Sarah Carey’s 10 aces and eight digs guided Bonners Ferry (2-0) over Lakeside 15-13, 15-7, 15-12 in a non-league match at Plummer.

Sarah Walter added 12 assists and Kara Braniff six kills for Bonners Ferry.

Football

Brandon Cassidy rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns and added three receptions for 72 yards to guide Phillipsburg, third-ranked among Montana eight-man teams, to a 40-26 win over Lakeside at Plummer.

Buck Allen, who was 13 of 27 for 306 yards and three TDs, helped Lakeside to a 14-0 halftime lead with an 8-yard TD run and 42-yard TD pass to Barrett Morris.
