Council Oks Money To Fix Roof Of Riverfront Park Pavilion

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Spokane City Council on Monday unanimously approved an emergency plan to spend $157,000 on repairs to the roof of Riverfront Park’s Pavilion.

Parks Director Ange Taylor told council members that studies of the Pavilion’s deteriorating condition uncovered serious leaks in the roof above the IMAX theater and the ice rink.

The roof needs about $300,000 worth of repairs, and a little more than half the work must be done before winter, Taylor said. He added that the dollars will come from Park Fund reserves.

Integrus Architecture has done two studies of the Pavilion’s condition in the past year.

The first, a structural study, turned up more than $800,000 in needed repairs. The second, a study of the mechanical, electrical and disability requirements, nearly tripled the original repair bill, bringing the total price tag to about $2.3 million.
