Fetisov Re-Signs

The Detroit Red Wings and defenseman Vyacheslav Fetisov have agreed to a one-year contract, general manager Ken Holland said Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fetisov was one of two Red Wings players injured in a limousine accident June 13. He suffered minor injuries.

The New York Rangers agreed to terms on a new contract (undisclosed terms) with Alexander Karpovtsev, bringing the defensemen back for his fifth season with the NHL team.

The New York Islanders agreed to a one-year contract extension ($750,000) with goaltender Tommy Salo.

Restricted free-agent centers Jozef Stumpel (two years) and Ian Laperriere (three years) and defenseman Philippe Boucher (one year) signed contracts with the Los Angeles Kings. With 21 goals and 55 assists, Boucher led Boston in scoring last season.
