Nugent Tops Ropers

Mark Nugent grabbed the lead after the first go-round of the calf-roping competition with a time of 9.9 seconds as the Pendleton Round-Up opened its five-day run.

Rob Juker and Trevor Brazile were the other individual leaders.

Juker of Gooding, Idaho, took the lead in steer wrestling with a time of 4.9 seconds. Brazile of Decatur, Texas, posted a winning time of 10.8 seconds in steer roping.
