Computer Problems Knock Out Msnbc

From Staff And Wire Reports

MSNBC’s site on the Internet was inaccessible for most of Tuesday because of computer problems, MSNBC said.

Other World Wide Web sites that use the same Microsoft Corp. computers, including Slate magazine, also were affected.

In a news release, MSNBC said the problems involved a series of computer servers maintained by Microsoft.

The problems meant that Web users trying to connect with www.msnbc.com or www.slate.com received error messages starting at about 4:30 a.m. PDT.

MSNBC said the computers became more stable later Tuesday, and operations were back to normal by evening.
