Central Michigan Rebounds To Defeat Boise State, 44-26

Tim Crowley threw for three touchdowns and Eric Flowers rushed for 214 yards and two scores as Central Michigan defeated Boise State 44-26 on Saturday at Mount Pleasant, Mich.

The Chippewas (2-1) amassed 449 yards a week after managing just six points in an 82-6 loss at No. 2 Florida.

Flowers, playing in place of injured Silas Massey, carried 36 times and scored on runs of 3 and 7 yards in the fourth quarter to extend the lead.

Boise State (0-3) racked up 361 yards, led by Nate Sparks, who was 22 of 37 for 331 yards and two TDs. The running game produced only 30 yards on 31 carries.

Central Michigan got on the board first on a 9-yard pass from Crowley to Joe Danna with 12:11 left in the first quarter.

After an exchange of field goals, Jason Meyer added a 1-yard scoring run with 3:45 left in the half. Boise State answered less than 2 minutes later as Sparks and Rodney Smith connected on a 38-yard TD pass.

After Todd Belcastro’s field goal, Crowley found Bryan Schorman for a 30-yard score and Reggie Allen with a 16-yard touchdown pass with 5:14 left in the third.

At Logan, Utah, Moses Moreno threw three touchdown passes and Kevin McDougal ran for two more as the Rams (2-1) defeated the Aggies (2-1).

North Texas 41, Indiana St. 6

At Denton, Texas, Ja’Quay Wilburn rushed for 120 yards, paving the way to three North Texas touchdowns and leading the Eagles (1-2) over the Sycamores (1-2).

N. Mex. St. 28, CS Northridge 18

At Las Cruces, N.M., Denvis Manns rushed for 221 yards and former Nebraska assistant Tony Samuel got his first victory as the Aggies (1-2) defeated the Matadors (1-2).
