Chris Redman completed touchdown passes of 63, 28 and 20 yards to Ibn Green, sparking Louisville to a 26-14 victory Saturday over Illinois.

Illinois (0-2) is host to Washington State University (2-0) next Saturday.

Redman’s 20-yard strike to Green proved to be the game-winner, capping a 12-play, 98-yard drive that gave Louisville (1-2) a 20-14 lead with 3:57 remaining.

A fake punt kept the drive alive as punter Jeremy Borseth completed a 25-yard shovel pass to Jason Wyatt to the Illinois 37. Four plays later, on third-and-6 at the 20, Green caught Redman’s pass at the 5 and dashed untouched into the end zone.

Redman connected on 19 of 28 passes for 324 yards, with Green catching six for 151.

Frank Moreau rushed 16 times for 68 yards as Louisville amassed 424 yards.

After Illinois (0-2) was third-andout on the ensuing series, Louisville didn’t waste time in scoring again. After two running plays netted 4 yards to the 37, Redman connected on the sideline with Green, who went 63 yards for the score with 1:57 left.

Redman’s first TD pass to Green followed a 36-yard pass to Miguel Montano to the Illinois 28. Redman then faked a handoff to Moreau and passed to Green in the right flat. Green slipped past two tacklers to tie the game at 7 with 3:46 remaining in the first quarter.

Arnold Jackson accounted for Louisville’s other touchdown, returning a punt 85 yards to tie the game at 14 with 6:21 left in the second quarter.

Illinois moved the ball 60 yards on seven plays in its first possession, with Robert Holcombe going off right guard for a 6-yard touchdown for a 7-0 lead with 9:19 remaining in the first quarter.

Mark Hoekstra completed 21 of 43 passes for 209 yards as Illinois gained 392 yards.
