Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Before you bring your new baby home from the hospital, mount a colorful calendar, one that has a fairly large square for each day, above the baby’s changing table. Keep a pen close enough to reach, but far enough away that baby will not be able to reach it.

The calendar will remind you to jot down new things your baby accomplishes, his or her weight and height increases and your comments. The calendar will then become a precious keepsake.

I found this to be much easier and more complete than remembering to write in the baby book. - Patricia Kuhns, Garland, Texas

Keep that calendar and when your baby grows up, what fun to look back at that first year! - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I’ve got a great tip for that little bit of shampoo left in a bottle. It’s not quite enough to wash your hair with, so fill the bottle with water and use this sudsy solution to wash fine lingerie such as stockings. They get clean and also smell great. - Dina, Nanuet, N.Y.
