Bruins Lead Weekly Pac-10 Honors

Players of week

Quarterback Cade McNown and safety Larry Atkins, who led UCLA to a stunning 66-3 victory at Texas, have been named Pac-10 Conference football players of the week.

McNown threw a school-record five touchdowns and Atkins intercepted two passes and had six tackles, including a quarterback sack.

Arizona State placekicker Robert Nyez is the top special teams player.

He hit three field-goals and two extra points in a 23-12 upset of Miami.

Big West

Idaho defensive back Tom Raynor, who blocked two punts in the Vandals’ 43-0 victory over Idaho State, is the Big West Conference special teams player of the week.

New Mexico State’s Denvis Manns, who rushed for a career-high 221 yards in a 28-18 victory over Cal State Northridge, is the offensive player of the week and Ben Crosland of Utah State, who had a career-high 18 tackles in a 35-24 loss to Colorado State, is the defensive player.

Big Sky

Montana State quarterback Rob Compson, who threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns, earned Big Sky Conference offensive player honors.

Jason Crebo of Montana, who had 12 tackles, three for losses, is the defensive player of the week and Weber State’s Scott Shields the special teams winner after averaging 50.4 yards on five punts.
