Landfill Expansion Foes Meet Tonight

From Staff And Wire Reports

A group of residents fighting continued expansion of the Graham Road Recycling and Disposal Facility in Medical Lake will meet tonight.

They plan to discuss reports that sulfate levels in the aquifer are rising because of the landfill.

The West Plains Neighborhood Organization formed last year to combat activities at the landfill, which is being investigated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA is determining if cancer-causing PCB-laced soil was improperly buried at the site.

The neighborhood group will meet at 7 p.m. at Hallett Elementary School. The public is invited to attend. For information, call Dan Kenreck at 299-5300.
