Cda Girls Win 6-0 To Earn Tie For First

Kaytlyn Smith’s goal and assist during the first 19 minutes Tuesday started visiting Coeur d’Alene toward a 6-0 North Idaho League girls soccer win at Bonners Ferry.

Cassie Gatten, who scored in the first minute for CdA, played goalkeeper the second half.

The Vikings (5-2-0, 4-0-0) tied Sandpoint for first place in the eight-team league. Amanda Fessler had 22 saves for the Badgers (0-2-0).

Junior Alexis Tolley finished with one goal and two assists in Lake City’s 4-2 non-league win over visiting West Valley.

Anna Moseley, on a feed from Tolley, put the Timberwolves (3-2-1) ahead in the sixth minute. Gabby McClintock of the Eagles (2-1-0) scored at 45 minutes, but LC responded with two goals for a 4-1 edge.

Volleyball

Kim Reid’s 16 kills and career-high seven aces lifted St. Maries (9-1) to a 17-15, 15-10, 15-17, 15-13 non-league win over Lake City (0-3).

Bridgette O’Dwyer added 10 blocks and eight kills for the Lumberjacks. Lindsay Herbert of the Timberwolves finished with 12 kills, nine digs and nine blocks.

In other non-leaguers, Katie Shirley’s 10 blocks and eight kills guided CdA (2-5) to a 15-1, 15-6, 17-15 non-league win over visiting Clarkston.

Krissi Ruiz also had eight kills for the Vikings.

Janelle Ruen’s 19 kills and Rachel Edmunds’ 34 assists led host Post Falls (8-3) to a 13-15, 15-5, 15-6, 15-9 win over Cheney.

Shandy Mills added eight kills and four aces for the Trojans.

North Idaho Christian defeated host Lakeside 4-15, 15-5, 15-10 at Plummer. Lakeside is 4-4. No details were reported.
