Garlic In A Jar

Lots more people would probably use garlic more often, if they didn’t have to hassle with peeling it.

Six years ago, Michelle Dean of Austin, Tex., mixed fresh garlic with almonds, extra-virgin olive oil, purified water, balsamic vinegar and sea salt to flavor a pork loin roast at Thanksgiving.

Now she’s selling it commercially as Mamo’s Garlic Sauce, which can be used as everything from a spread for sandwiches to a butter substitute, to a vegetable dip to a baste for grilling.

And the best part is, all you have to do is turn the lid on the jar.

Price: $5.75 for 7.5 ounces.

Available: In Spokane at Harry O’s Fresh Market. (For a free Mamo’s cookbook, call 800-309-5154.) , DataTimes ILLUSTRATION: Color photo
