Bicyclist Dies After Hit-And-Run

A Spokane bicyclist who was critically injured after being hit by a car on Sunset Hill died Wednesday, police said.

Harold Grammer, 31, was taken off life support after doctors determined he was brain dead, police said.

Grammer was pedaling to work west on Sunset Boulevard about 5:25 a.m. Tuesday when he was hit from behind near F Street.

The force of the crash threw Grammer, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, about 100 feet. His bike was thrown 150 feet.

Grammer suffered massive head and internal injuries.

The hit-and-run driver hasn’t been found.

While leaving the scene of an injury accident is a crime, driver may not be at fault for the collision, police said.

It was dark at the time, and the cyclist wore no reflective clothing and was pedaling a good distance from the curb.
