Christina Marecz Receives American Veterans Award

Navy Ensign Christina S. Marecz, daughter of Michael and Gennie Martin of Moscow, has received the American Veterans Award.

Marecz, an honors graduate from University of Idaho, was recognized for her exceptional attributes of initiative, dependability, judgment and self-esteem at the annual Spring Awards at Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps in Moscow.

Marecz received her commission as an ensign and transferred to surface warfare officers school in Rhode Island for further duty to surface-type ships.

Army Pvt. David L. McCulla, son of Debbie and David McCulla of Spirit Lake, recently graduated from the Bradley fighting vehicle system mechanic course at Fort Knox, Ky.

McCulla instruction included basic combat training, maintenance on fighting vehicle systems and the fundamentals of components and assemblies engine. Use of special tools, test, measurement and diagnostic equipment was also included.

Jeremy S. Walters, son of Gregory and Nancy Walters of Priest River, has joined the Army as an M1 Abrams tank turret mechanic and attended basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Walters, a 1996 graduate of Priest River High School and former Boy’s State Representative, will qualify for an $8,000 cash incentive due to test scores and enlistment choice.

Nathan Jones, son of Janice Traver of Rathdrum and Kenneth Jones of Spirit Lake, has joined the army as a Bradley fighting vehicle system mechanic and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Jones, a 1997 graduate of Lakeland High School, qualifies for a $2,000 cash incentive due to test scores and enlistment choice.

Army Pfc. David P. Mangan, son of James and Julia Mangan of Coeur d’Alene, recently arrived for duty at Fort Riley, Junction City, Kan., as a military policeman assigned to the 300th Military Police Company.
