Get A Hunch, Bet A Bunch

It should not take a crystal ball, or even a form sheet, to figure out that trainer Ray Tracy Jr. and jockey Jason Eads have not come all the way back from Iowa because they missed riding the carousel in Riverfront Park.

Tracy has won a potful of local stakes races. Eads has not competed at Playfair since he won the 1995 championship. Today, Tracy will saddle and Eads will climb aboard Avie’s Lady for the All West Fillies Stakes. Avie’s Lady has won three of nine, and the 3-year-old filly, before winning the Prairie Meadows Oaks, was a decent 22-1 for the $100,000 Twixt Stakes at Laurel. She may not be a cinch, but don’t expect any other horse in the field to ever run for a hundred grand.

I C La in the first race seems overdue for her best. Jay Jay K., in the fourth, and Genuine Lite Nite, in the sixth, should benefit from recent tuneups.

Here are today’s selections:

FIRST: $10 to win on I C LA and $2 daily doubles combining her and COME ON MAC with UP BIRDIE and BON BONE BABE ($4) in the second race ($8).

FOURTH: $10 to win on JAY JAY K. and $5 exactas combining him with AMERICAN CADILLAC and SEA PIRATE ($10).

FIFTH: $50 to win on AVIE’S LADY and $5 exactas pairing her with MOULTON, KOLETRAINE KURRI and AQUATIC DREAM ($15).

SIXTH: $10 to win on GENUINE LITE NITE. Parlay any winnings to ROYAL AMEWSMENT in the eighth.

Original bankroll: $2,000.

Saturday’s result: Lost $26.

Present bankroll: $1,606.40.
