Parents Accused Of Killing Girl, Arrested After Story Airs On TV

Compiled From Wire Services

An Ohio couple police say killed their 8-year-old daughter and buried her in their back yard were arrested after being featured on television’s “America’s Most Wanted.”

Jack and Mona Volgares were arrested late Saturday at a shelter where they apparently had recently stayed with their three other children.

“We received a tip and the man said he had seen the subjects before,” said police spokesman Reggie Cotton. “He led us to the Salvation Army.”

Aggravated murder warrants were signed against the couple after Seleana Gamble was found Sept. 7, buried in a garbage can in the back yard of their Ironton, Ohio, home.

An autopsy has failed to determine the cause of death for the girl. There was no evidence of trauma, and authorities have not ruled out suffocation or poisoning.

The Volgareses were on the run with their children, Tesla, 4, and Jerimiah, 2, as well as Vivian Gamble, 11, Mona’s daughter from a previous relationship.
