The Question Is, Did She Tender Him Her Love?
Two of the key characters in the new “Child Bride: The Untold Story of Priscilla Beaulieu Presley” have filed multimillion-dollar lawsuits against each other over the book.
Presley, who insists she was a virgin bride, sued Lavern Currie Grant, a former Army buddy of her late husband’s, for $10 million over his claim that he bedded her before she met Elvis.
Grant filed a $5 million countersuit, saying Presley defamed him by claiming he repeatedly tried to rape her in the 1950s.
A trial date has been set for May 4.
Author Suzanne Finstad said she arranged for Presley and Grant to meet at her house to try to settle their disagreement.
“It resulted in an argument between them with Priscilla storming out of my house,” she said.
Loose talk
Chilean author Isabel Allende, on love: “Women have no interest in aphrodisiacs, which have their origin in the fragility of the male organ. It is given names of tools and weapons, and even said to have supernatural powers, but in fact it fits inside a tin of sardines.”
Well, her cake will certainly be lit up
Debby Boone turns 41 today.
In other words, all of his women will be brown
Bobby Brown, on a reported instance of infidelity with a white woman during which he allegedly bragged, “My wife is Whitney Houston!” (in Sister 2 Sister magazine): “I wouldn’t even say that because I don’t like people calling my wife Whitney Houston. Her name is Whitney Brown … And I’m not a prejudiced person, but if I’m going to cheat on my wife or doing anything, it’s going to be (with) a sister. Believe me!”
But he’s a little concerned about the tax bite
People magazine has confirmed that one of the prospective buyers interested in Sylvester Stallone’s Coconut Grove estate - a steal at a mere $27.5 million - is none other than Mike Tyson.
Heck, just about anybody could’ve told him that
Celebrity sleazeball Joey Buttafuoco, still pursuing a movie career, is playing a Mafia don in “The Godson,” starring Rodney Dangerfield and Dom DeLuise. Said Buttafuoco: “I get whacked by a special agent ninja. I’m dead, but I don’t know it.”
The other performances will be Dolly unplugged
Dolly Parton is writing a musical about her life that’s scheduled to premiere next spring at her Dollywood amusement park, although she won’t necessarily be on hand to star in all the shows. “We’re building it so they can plug me in when I’m here,” Parton explained.
And besides, it would be a pretty bumpy ride
Artist Red Grooms is designing a Nashville carousel where the “horses” will be people important to the city’s history - including Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett and Kitty Wells, but no Dolly Parton. “She’s great,” Grooms said, “but she has her own theme park.”
