Traffic Stop Leads To Drug, Theft Charges

From Staff Reports

Two women are facing drug charges after Spokane police pulled them over for speeding in a stolen car.

Officers discovered methamphetamine and black-tar heroin in the 1990 Chevy Beretta. They also reported finding a loaded handgun, a pager, more than $200 in cash and drug-packaging material.

The driver, Margie D. Grinstead, 22, was arrested on two counts of car theft, possession of drugs with intent to deliver and an outstanding theft warrant, police said. Her residence wasn’t available.

Cinnamon S. Wheeler, 26, of Spokane, was booked for possession of controlled substances.

The pair - plus Wheeler’s 5-year-old daughter - was southbound near Gardner and Elm at 2:15 p.m. Sunday when officers spotted the speeding car, police said.

Officers pulled the car over at Broadway and Maple.

Grinstead told police she had been driving another stolen car earlier and provided keys and the location of the car.

Police turned the child over to her grandmother. , DataTimes
