Barbecue Geared Toward Minority, International Students

From Staff And Wire Reports

Minority and international students attending area colleges are invited to a collegiate fall barbecue Saturday at Liberty Park, at Fifth and Perry.

The gathering, sponsored by the Intercollegiate Racial Concerns Committee, is open to students attending WSU Spokane, EWU, Gonzaga University, Whitworth College, Community Colleges of Spokane, Mukogawa Fort Wright and the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education.

Joan Menzies, one of the organizers of the event, said the barbecue is designed to help minority and international students meet one another and learn about college and community resources.

“They can feel real isolated in Spokane,” she said. “This is a chance for them to network and get to know one another.” The barbecue is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call Menzies at 358-7526.
