Scholarships Awarded To Several Area Students

Foundation Northwest, The Community Foundation, awarded $62,520 in scholarships to Inland Northwest high school spring graduates and college students for the 1997-98 academic year.

Below are Eastern Washington students, who are listed alphabetically by scholarships and hometowns.

The Annie Maria Hitchings Memorial Scholarship: Lance Repp, St. John, Wash.; and Deborah Schaal, Endicott, Wash.

The Bess Mickalson Scholarship Fund: Joseph Bristol, Alicia Kinzler and Matthew Park all of Chewelah, Wash.; Paige Quistad and Angela Wollan, both of Colville, Wash.; John Riley, Inchelium, Wash.; and Elissa Scott, Valley, Wash.

The Clarence Hines Fund: Keely Carroll, Brian Kehne and Kelli Templeton, all of Colfax, Wash.

The Dale Wilson/Mondovi Grange Trust Fund: Trish Schwartz, Reardan, Wash.; Heather Hubbard, Cheney; Pamela Temte, Spokane; Janelle Allen, Philip Wolfe and Melinda Bandy, Wilbur, Wash.; Lindsey Morse, Davenport, Wash.; and Jennifer Stone, Harrington, Wash.

The Eileen M. Hutchinson Scholarship Fund: Cherub Checchio, Valley; Sheila Richardson, Kettle Falls, Wash.

The Gary L. Carrow Memorial Scholarship: Marissa Neste, Spokane.

The Ben Rice Scholarship Fund: Muriah Barela, Paul Clements, Luke Dollar, Jaime Hicks, Elizabeth Miller, Heather Tabish and Christopher Whittaker, all of Spokane.

The Robert and Anna Neill Scholarship: Paul Henning, Pullman.

Washington Health Care Association: Joanne Grish and Dana Troutman, both of Spokane.

The William and Flossie Sanborn Scholarship: Desirae Victor, Sprague, Wash.

Michael Thompson, a 1997 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, received a $2,126 Glenn Terrel Multicultual Scholarship-in-Residence award to attend Washington State University. The scholarship is given for scholastic excellence.

He is the son of Elvira and Joel Thompson.

Kristi Harju, daughter of Sylvia Harju, received the James L. Turrentine Scholarship from Pitney Bowes Inc.

Harju is a graduate of Lakeside High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, played in the concert band and on the basketball, volleyball and softball teams.

Anneliese Ogden, daughter of Dave Ogden and Linda Hendrix, received a $1,000 Glenn Terrel award to attend Washington State University.

Ogden is a Deer Park High School graduate, where she was a member of National Honor Society, president of the Math Club, and received the Air Force Recruiting Service Mathematics and Science Award.

Derek G. Dahlke, Spokane, was named to the Dean’s List at Illinois Wesleyan University, Blommington, Ill., for the spring semester
