Liberty Bowl Gets Sponsor

The Liberty Bowl has a sponsor for its Dec. 31 game in Memphis, Tenn.

The Equitable Life Assurance Society and its parent, AXA of France, announced today they will become the game’s first corporate sponsors.

Syracuse senior linebacker Antwaune Ponds says he owes an apology to the youngest fans but not to an assistant Tulane coach he spit on after an alleged racial slur after last Saturday’s football game.

“For what he said to me, he’s lucky that’s all I did,” Ponds told the Syracuse Post-Standard.
