Alvin Lund Harrison, Idaho

Service for Alvin Richard Lund, 84, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at The Harrison Community Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Harrison City Cemetery. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lund, a lifelong Harrison resident, died Tuesday.

He grew up in Harrison and graduated from Harrison High School in 1935. He worked for Mathews Bus Service as a driver, drove a school bus route, and worked for Brownwell Hardware in Harrison and Economy Hardware in St. Maries.

Mr. Lund served with the Army during World War II as a military policeman and returned to Harrison in 1944.

He became the U.S. Postmaster at the Harrison Post Office, retiring in 1975 after 31 years of service.

Mr. Lund served as treasurer for the Harrison Chamber of Commerce, City of Harrison, Kootenai School District, the Boat Club and the Old Timers Picnic Committee.

He had served as the past mayor and fire chief of Harrison, and was a Past Master of the Masons.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Harrison Grange.

Survivors include his wife, Florenda “Ferlee” Lund; one son, Rich Lund of Harrison; a sister, Esther Jensen of St. Maries; three grandchildren, Kristen, Todd and Stefany; and one great-granddaughter, Kali.

Robert Shoop Moscow, Idaho

No service will be held for Robert William Shoop, 73, at his request. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shoop, a lifelong Moscow resident, died Sunday.

He grew up and attended schools in Moscow, and served with the Navy during World War II, returning to Moscow after an honorable discharge.

Mr. Shoop worked in the logging and construction industries, retiring in 1980 due to health reasons.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mona; three sons, Charles Shoop of Moscow, and Douglas and Jerry Shoop, both of Oregon; one sister, Dottie Lefors of Moscow; a brother, Gerald Shoop of California; and seven grandchildren.

William Price Spokane

No service will be held for William Kay “Bill” Price, 71. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Price, who died Monday, was born in Colville, Wash.

He served in the Army during World War II and worked for Colville Auto Park for more than 40 years before retiring in 1993.

Mr. Price moved to Spokane County two months ago.

He was a member of the Colville American Legion.

His survivors include a brother, Lawrence Price of Spokane; and a sister, Eileen Adams of Why, Ark.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Spokane.

William Heatherly Osburn, Idaho

Memorial service for William Heatherly, 68, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Berean Baptist Church (United Steelworkers Hall) in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heatherly, who was born in Phoenix, died Tuesday.

He grew up and attended schools in Wallace and worked for construction companies in California before working as a hoist man for Sunshine Mining Co. He retired in 1991 due to illness.

Mr. Heatherly was a member of the Steelworkers Union and a former member of the Kellogg Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, DoraLee; three children, Susan Bradley of California, Kathy Raiha of Burke, Idaho, and Richard Heatherly of Kellogg; two stepchildren, Lori Fisher of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Kelly Bonn of Kellogg; one sister, Corrine Street of Silverton, Idaho; two brothers, James and Bob Heatherly, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Nina Blank Rosalia, Wash.

Graveside service for Nina Faye Blank, 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at the International Order of Odd Fellows Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia. Schanzenbach Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Blank, who was born in Cheney, died Sunday.

She graduated in 1940 from Pine City High School in Malden, Wash., and later from Eastern Washington College of Education.

She taught in the Vancouver (Wash.) School District during and after World War II.

In 1947 she married Elmer Blank and they moved to Rosalia.

Mrs. Blank was then employed by the Rosalia School District for 31 years as a bus driver and custodian.

She was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sheila Morken of La Center, Wash., and Glenda Trautman of Kalama, Wash.; two sons, Sheldon Blank of Kennewick and Galen Blank of Rosalia; a brother, Lyle Kjack of Malden, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosalia Ambulance Fund or the International Order of Odd Fellows Evergreen Cemetery.

Walter Krogel Spokane

Funeral service for Walter Krogel, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Krogel, who was a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Sunday.

He graduated from Rogers High School in 1934, and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Krogel worked in the auditor’s office for the city of Spokane for many years before retiring in 1978.

He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Gladys; a son, Gerald Krogel, and a daughter Nancy Schutz, both of Spokane; a sister, Lolita Branson of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

Esther Wittenberg Federal Way, Wash.

Service for Esther L. Wittenberg, a former 85-year Spokane resident, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Wittenberg, who was born in Thief River Falls, Minn., died Sunday. She was 92.

She was a homemaker and moved to Federal Way in 1992.

Her husband, Albert Wittenberg, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, William Wittenberg of Tacoma; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Star Boy’s Ranch.

Theodore Lyse Wilbur, Wash.

Funeral service for Theodore “Ted” Lyse, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport, Wash. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lyse, who was born in Govan, Wash., died Saturday.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

In 1929 he married Elsie Mansfield in Davenport. In 1933 they moved to Davenport, where they farmed until 1939. They then moved into the town of Davenport, where he was the manager of the Odessa Union Warehouse for many years. He retired in 1970.

His memberships included the First Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 7480, American Legion Post No. 46, the Lincoln County Historical Society, SeaBees Veterans of America and the 41st Special Battalion Association.

His wife died in 1988.

He is survived by two daughters, Lois Sautter of Davenport and Kathleen Yates of Spokane; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Wilbur Cemetery Endowment Care Fund or the Lincoln County Historical Society.

James Lords Spokane

No service will be held for James “Wes” Lords, 56, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Lords, who was born in Great Falls, Mont., died Tuesday.

He graduated in 1960 from Glendive High School.

Mr. Lords was a retail store manager by trade and was employed by Schuck’s Auto, Checker Auto and Yellow Front. He was also a volunteer for Meals On Wheels.

He was a member of the Southeast Lions Club and he received the Lion of the Year Award.

Mr. Lords is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lila; two sons, Linn Black of Vista, Calif., and Larry Black of Berkeley, Calif.; two daughters, Carla Skaggs of Spokane and Stacey Thalmayer of Pauma Valley, Calif.; a brother, Delano Lords of Rapid City, S.D.; three sisters, Beverly Hallen of Vancouver, Wash., Nelda May of Great Falls, Mont., and Karen Naumen of Aurora, Colo.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, American Heart Association or the Lions Eye Bank.

Mary Olivet Spokane

Funeral Mass for Mary Jeanne Olivet, 74, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. A private entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements.

A lifetime resident of Spokane, Mrs. Olivet died Monday.

She graduated from Marycliff High School and worked for Medical Service Corporation as a medical secretary until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Louis; and a son, Stephen Olivet of Spokane.

Pearl Fisher Spokane

Memorial service for Pearl L. Fisher, 81, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fisher, who was born in Santa Ana, Calif., died Friday.

She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Spokane for 23 years. She a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

Her husband, Fred Fisher, died in 1992.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Fisher of Spokane and Kathleen Walker of Harvard, Idaho; four sons, Jack, Carl and Paul Fisher, all of Spokane, and Norman Fisher of Morgan Hill, Calif.; two brothers; one sister; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Cleo White Spokane

Memorial graveside service for Cleo Ivan White, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mr. White, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.

He served in the Marines during World War II, and worked as a cattle rancher. He also worked in logging and carpentry.

He moved to Elk seven years ago and to Spokane five years ago. He also lived for a time in Priest River, Idaho.

Mr. White was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge of Richmond, Calif.

His wife, June White, died in March 1997.

His survivors include three cousins.

Arthur Storrud Overton, Nev.

Memorial service for Arthur Talbert Storrud, 85, is pending. Metcalf Mortuary in Overton is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Storrud, who was born in Hoople, N.D., died Sep. 18.

In 1947 he married Elvella Otteson in Omaha, Neb.

He joined the Army and later switched to the Air Force. He retired from the military after serving in World War II and the Korean War. After his retirement they moved to Butte, Mont., and then to Evans, Wash. in 1973.

In 1995 they moved to Overton.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Donald of Pinedale, Wyo., Ronald and John of Las Vegas, Orin of Sandpoint and Kris of Overton; a daughter, Mona of Chewelah, Wash. and nine grandchildren.
