Rafe Gibbs Donates Materials To UI Library

Rafe Gibbs, journalist, author and retired University of Idaho faculty member, has donated 10 cubic feet of publication materials to the UI library, including typescripts of articles, magazines which published his stories, books he authored, reference materials and a collection of historical photographs of his family and himself.

Gibbs’ donated materials are part of the UI library collection of historical documents and publications in Special Collections and Archives.

The University of Idaho College of Engineering has reached a new record in private donations thanks in part to a $700,000 payment from The Boeing Company, part of a 1.5 million gift from businesses and individuals that was donated to the department.

The Kootenai Medical Center Foundation raised approximately $10,500 for the Kim Svee Memorial Teen Volunteer Scholarship Fund at the eighth annual Best Ball/Best Call golf tournament, co-sponsored by AirTouch Cellular.

The scholarship, which was named after a former hospital volunteer who was killed in a car accident several years ago, is awarded to an outstanding teen volunteer to be used to continue education beyond high school. The 1997 $1,000 Kim Svee Scholarship winner was Anna Zemke, of Post Falls.
