After Diana’s Death, It’s Open Season On Photogs

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

The Princess Diana car crash incident is having an anti-paparazzi effect. At least one lawyer hopes it is.

Charles English, attorney for Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, is arguing that celebrity photographer Henry Trappler was the cause of his own injury - a broken hip - when he tangled with Lee a year ago.

According to Trappler, Lee threw him to the sidewalk in front of Hollywood’s Viper Room when Trappler attempted to photograph Lee and his wife, Pamela Anderson Lee. Trappler is suing for unspecified damages.

“Camera people who get in the face or impede the movement of others, whether they are celebrities or citizens are in the wrong and committing an assault,” English told a judge. Negotiations are ongoing to settle civil and criminal claims.

Loose talk

Drew Carey on revealing in his new book, “Dirty Jokes and Beer,” that he’d been sexually abused as a child (on “Access Hollywood”): “It’s like opening a can of worms. I wish I hadn’t put it in there. My mom found out through the tabloids.”

And ever so gradually, she emerges from the Pitts

Gwyneth Paltrow turns 25 today.

Try our new tofu pizza: It’s scum-diddly-umptious!

Afraid of E. coli? Actress Jennie Garth has a simple solution: Don’t eat meat. “Want to make sure the meat in your fridge won’t poison your family? Throw it out,” the vegetarian star of “Beverly Hills 90210” said in a new advertisement for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. “There’s never been a better time to go vegetarian.”

But we won’t pass any on because that would be trashy

Leah Garchik, columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, had one reader tell her that a simple Alta Vista online search for Princess Diana jokes resulted in 171,240 Web site references.

And another 70 ordered the Elton John cut

Reports from back East are that, following her death, Princess Diana is more popular than ever. Or, at the very least, her haircut is. “When she was alive, no one asked about the style,” said Michael DiPalma of the Thunder salon in Philadelphia, where 70 folks sought the Diana cut.

‘Houston, we have a fashion design problem’

Tom Hanks committed a faux pas on Cape Canaveral’s space shuttle launch pad Thursday. “I left without my long pants,” said Hanks, who showed up in gray athletic shorts and a T-shirt. The actor (“Apollo 13”) was forced, for safety issues, to don a white coverall.

Larry King finally comes out with the truth

Though searching for a new site to broadcast from, talk-show host Larry King still plans on doing his thing from both Washington and Los Angeles. “We’re a bicoastal show. We’ve been a bicoastal show for years,” said Caroline Teasdale, spokeswoman for “Larry King Live.”
