Gsl Volleyball: Shadle, Rogers Profit

Jockeying for the district tournament began in earnest Friday as the Greater Spokane League’s middle-of-the-pack volleyball teams met at two sites.

Shadle Park (6-2) moved into a tie for third place with Lewis and Clark off a 15-7, 16-14, 15-9 win at Gonzaga Prep (3-5). Rogers (4-4) jumped ahead of G-Prep and Central Valley (3-5), moving into fifth on a 17-15, 15-8, 9-15, 15-11 win at CV.

Six of the 10 GSL teams gain the Oct. 30-Nov. 1 district tourney at Mt. Spokane.

At G-Prep, Michelle Etter had 19 kills and seven blocks, including a stuff block late in the second game, for Shadle. Prep’s Meghann Green had 10 digs and three blocks.

At CV, Monica Abrahamson’s 18 kills and 11 blocks paced Rogers, which led the first game 14-7 before CV tied it at 15. Tara LaShaw had 28 assists and Dawn Stangland 11 digs for CV.
