Analysis

On any given Sunday, Kansas City will beat Seattle. OK, that trite NFL coaches’ drivel has been modified to fit this analysis, but it remains true until Seattle proves otherwise. The numbers aren’t pretty: Seattle has lost six straight at Arrowhead and 11 of the last 12 in the series, most by wide margins. Seattle has a legitimate chance today, particularly if linebacker Derrick Thomas doesn’t play. A win here would put Seattle back on playoff course and ease the sting of the home loss to the Jets. It will take a big play or two from Joey Galloway, a herculian effort by the offensive line to pick up Chiefs blitzers and another stout showing by an improving defense. In other words, a near-perfect game. That’s a little too much to ask.
