Drug, Gang Expert To Talk At Schools

A national expert on drug and gang activity will address students and give a parent/community seminar Thursday.

Federal drug prosecutor Monte Stiles will visit Canfield Middle School in the morning, Lakes Middle School in the afternoon, and then present a community seminar from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lake City High School.

Stiles, an Idaho native, was a federal drug prosecutor for 10 years, directing the U.S. Attorney’s Office Organized Crime/Drug Enforcement Task Force. He is now an assistant U.S. attorney and serves on the Boise mayor’s Task Force on Youth.

He graduated from Brigham Young University law school and began his career as a deputy prosecutor in Ada County. He later became chief juvenile prosecutor and supervising attorney of the Ada County Drug prosecution Unit.

He later investigated domestic terrorism, violence, crime, juvenile justice and narcotics for the U.S. Attorney’s office.

He returned to Idaho in 1995 to resume work with the drug task force and teach criminal justice at Boise State University. , DataTimes
