E. Coli Victim Hospitalized

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 6-year-old girl, one of two Yakima-area residents who contracted E. coli bacteria infections this month, was hospitalized in stable condition Monday in Seattle.

Elizabeth Tikriti was in the pediatric intensive-care unit at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, but was improving, a hospital spokesman said.

The girl’s parents suspect tainted hamburger at a Yakima restaurant caused her illness. They’ve declined to identify the establishment.

The second person, described by health officials only as a young adult, did not require hospitalization.
