Raymond Christman Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Raymond James Christman, 51, will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Christman, who was born in Missoula, died Thursday.

He grew up and attended school in Missoula before serving with the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Christman returned to Montana after his military service. He also lived in Nevada and Spokane, before moving to Maple Valley, Wash., where he worked as a meat cutter.

He moved to Sandpoint in 1990 and owned a satellite dish business, before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1994.

Mr. Christman attended North Idaho College for two years and then worked for the county planning department.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Mindy and Cheila Christman, both at home; three brothers, Donald Christman of Gold Bar, Wash., Cecil Cook of Nevada and Robert; five sisters, Dorothy Shinnick and Geri Werner, both of Goldendale, Wash., Ann Hackathorne of Houston and Donna Rhodes of Arizona, and Lois.

Iva Lawrence Pullman

Funeral service for Iva Jean Lawrence, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Presbyterian Church of Pullman. Burial will follow at Pullman City Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Lawrence, who was born in Mars, Pa., died Saturday.

She graduated from high school in Mars and worked for four years for the Postal Service in Mars.

In 1938 she married John Lawrence and together they moved to Pittsburgh. They moved to Ithaca, N.Y., for a few years and then in 1948 moved to Pullman.

Mrs. Lawrence was a homemaker.

Memberships include the Presbyterian Church of Pullman, the Eastern Star Crescent Chapter Number 53, College Hill Sewing Club and the Frolicker Square Dance Club.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, J. Dennis Lawrence of Concord, Calif., and Robert Lawrence of Corvallis, Ore.; a sister, Ethel Sharp of Washington, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

John McDonald Spokane

Memorial service for John G. McDonald, 100, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Opportunity Presbyterian Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of the arrangements and cremation.

Mr. McDonald, who was born in Barre, Vt., died Tuesday.

He moved to Canada as a child and moved to Spokane in 1938.

He owned and operated McDonald Refrigeration, until he retired in 1990.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Violet; a son, Kenneth McDonald of Kirkland; a daughter, Joyce Bagdon of Spokane; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irene Leonson Spokane

Graveside service for Irene L. Leonson, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Odessa, Wash., Mrs. Leonson died Friday.

She graduated from Harrington High School in Harrington, Wash.

Mrs. Leonson was a homemaker.

Her husband, Levi, died in 1994.

She is survived by a niece and a sister-in-law.

Richard Garcia Cheney

No service will be held for Richard O. Garcia, 71. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and cremation.

Mr. Garcia, who was born in East St. Louis, Ill., died Thursday.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Garcia was a drummer in the late 1940s for many bands that played around the country. He also was alternate percussionist for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and a member of the St. Louis Musicians Union.

In 1953 he married Clevo Lamberson, and they spent three years traveling with a dance band that played the leading hotels in the United States.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the St. Louis Institute of Music and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Garcia taught in the public school system of St. Louis for six years, before coming to Cheney to teach in the Music Department at Eastern Washington University from 1965 to 1989.

Survivors include his wife; and two sisters, Diane Gruenwald of Devon, Pa., and Dolores Fernandez of Bradenton, Fla.

Ricky White Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Ricky L. White, 29, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. White, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Sept. 24, when the car he was driving went into Fernan Lake.

He was a lifelong Coeur d’Alene resident and was a drummer in a band.

Survivors include a daughter, Skyler White of Deer Lake, Wash.; his father, Ricky White of Rathdrum, Idaho; and his grandmother, Patricia Hopkins of Spokane.

Pat Hubbard Spokane

Memorial service for Pat Hubbard, 78, was Monday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hubbard, who was born in South Dakota, died Thursday.

She was a 57-year resident of the Spokane Valley.

Mrs. Hubbard was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, R.T. Hubbard Sr.; a daughter, Jacqueline Volz of Spokane; a son, R.T. Hubbard Jr. of Cheney; a brother, Verne McDowell of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lupus Society Greater Spokane Chapter.

Oliver Davis Greenacres

Funeral service for Oliver F. Davis, 81, was held Monday at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Interment followed at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Davis, who was born in Galena, Kan., died Friday.

He was a farmer in the MesaConnell, Wash., area for many years.

Mr. Davis moved to the Spokane area in 1973 and had lived in Greenacres for the past 11 years.

He was a member of the Greenacres Christian Church and the Good Samaritan Society.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a son, Jerry Davis of Curlew, Wash.; two daughters, Beverly Smith of Neilton, Wash., and Carolyn Chase of Aberdeen, Wash.; a brother, Ray Davis of Coos Bay, Ore.; a sister, Margaret Porter of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Olga Bosch Spokane

Funeral Mass for Olga Marie Bosch, 93, was held Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery. HennesseySmith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bosch, who was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, died Wednesday.

She was a homemaker and a 60-year resident of Spokane.

Her husband, Wendelin Bosch, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Bill and Don Bosch, both of Spokane; two daughters, Dolores Withers of Agoura, Calif., and Marilyn Longson of Burnsville, Minn.; a brother, Chris Quenzer; two sisters, Lorna Strubinger and Bertha Singer; 25 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gonzaga Prep Scholarship Fund or St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Allen ‘Al’ Ballard Spokane

No service for Allen L. “Al” Ballard, 93, will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ballard, who was born in Tacoma, died Friday.

He worked for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads for 52 years.

His memberships included El Katif Shrine, Scottish Rite, Hillyard Lodge No. 133, Ivanhoe Chapter No. 80 Order of Eastern Star, Spokane Elks Lodge No. 338 and the Veterans Association of the Great Northern Railway.

His wife, Ferne, preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Charles Ballard of Spokane; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

William Dickman Spokane

Funeral Mass for William J. Dickman, 87, was Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Dickman, who was born in Oto, Iowa, died Friday.

He served in the Army and retired from Centennial Mills after 27 years as a fork-lift driver.

Mr. Dickman was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Valley Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1435.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; three daughters, Elizabeth Elliot and Mary Thielke, both of Spokane, and Theresa McNeill of Wichita, Kan.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Dean Rasmussen Otis Orchards

Funeral service for Dean Rasmussen, 63, was held Monday at The Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton, Mont. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Rasmussen, who was born in Culbertson, Mont., died Sept. 23.

He served in the Air Force in Thailand and Vietnam, and retired after 22 years of service as master sergeant.

He later worked as a carpenter for various contractors. He was a 31-year resident of the area.

Mr. Rasmussen was a member of the Eagles Club.

Survivors include four sons, David Rasmussen of Missoula, Ronald Rasmussen of Temecula, Calif., Pete Rasmussen of Otis Orchards and Robin Rasmussen of Spokane; two sisters, Beverly Springer of Graveland, Calif., and Shirley Downing of Hamilton; two brothers, Duane and Gerald Rasmussen, both of Stevensville, Mont.; and five grandchildren.

Betty (Bozzi) Cowan Spokane

Memorial service for Betty L. (Bozzi) Cowan, 67, was Monday at Bethel Church of the Nazarene. Interment followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cowan, who was born in Marcus, Wash., died Thursday.

She graduated from high school in La Grande, Ore., and then joined the Navy. She served as a radioman stationed in Hawaii during the Korean Conflict.

Mrs. Cowan later moved to Spokane and became a bookkeeper for Thomas Consolidated Mines for 15 years. She then worked for Kaiser Trentwood as a secretary until her retirement in 1989.

She was a member of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include a son, Vince Bozzi of Spokane; four daughters, Cecilia and Shirley both of Spokane, Julie of Salem, Ore., and Angela of Richland; a brother, Wayne Drummond of La Grande, Ore.; a sister, Darlene Seebeck of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Shirley Bell Spokane

Funeral Mass for Shirley A. Bell, 64, will be at 11 a.m. today at Mary Queen Catholic Church. A private inurnment will be held. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Bell, who was born in Glasgow, Mont., died Wednesday.

She worked as a cashier for a grocery store, and was a member of Mary Queen parish.

Mrs. Bell is survived by her husband of 46 years, Warren; two sons, Warren and Paul Bell, both of Spokane; two daughters, Kathryn Allan of Spokane and Nadine MacMahom of Granite Falls, Wash.; two brothers, Everest and William Marks, both of Saco, Mont.; a sister, Erna Pidwerbecki of Glasgow; a half-sister, Betty Grubbso of Martinez, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Jane Moe Spokane

Funeral service for Jane L. Moe, 66, was Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Interment followed at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Moe, who was a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Thursday.

She worked for Pacific Northwest Bell and M&M Ticket Agency.

She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was active with the Parent Teachers Association and scouting.

She is survived by her husband, Jene; two sons, James Moe of Spokane and Kenneth Moe of Renton, Wash.; a daughter, Kathryn Moe of Spokane; a brother, Frederick Hubbell Jr. of Suncrest; two sisters, Beverly Nobel and Helen Duchow, both of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pauls’s United Methodist Church.

Leota Robinette Spokane

Funeral service for Leota W. Robinette, 89, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Robinette, a 55-year Spokane resident, died Saturday.

She was born in Missouri and graduated from high school in Ellensburg, Wash.

Mrs. Robinette worked in sales at Sears and Grants department stores for many years.

She was a member of Lidgerwood Evangelical Church, Sinto and Corbin Senior Centers, Holy Family Adult Health Care and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Her husband, William Robinette, died in 1974.

She is survived by two sons, Vern Robinette of Spokane and Ervin Robinette of Priest Lake, Idaho; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
