The Greater Spokane League kicked off league play Monday with shutouts being the order of the day. All five games were whitewashes.

The GSL’s dominant players in the preseason kept up their paces.

Mead’s Natalie Kehl has 10 goals in six games after scoring two. Megan Cummings of Ferris scored her seventh in eight games. And Jessica Dineen of Lewis and Clark is averaging a goal per game after scoring her sixth of the season.

Cummings also dished out two assists as the Saxons handed the Bullpups just their second loss in eight matches.

Kehl’s two goals helped Mead stay undefeated at 6-0. She scored the only goal in the first half on an assist from Jaci Pelton, who had two assists. Mead scored three goals in the span of 9 minutes in the second half to put the game out of reach. Shadle Park managed just three shots on goal.

Corinne Gannon scored twice for the Bears - the first goal and the last. Angie Kochendorfer also scored in the second half.
