Cougar At Western Washington Believed To Have Killed Goat

From Staff And Wire Reports

A cougar sighted near the Western Washington University campus is believed to be the same animal that recently killed a goat.

Two Bellingham residents reported seeing the cougar shortly before dawn Friday in the Connelly Creek and Sehome Hills areas near the university.

“We think this may be the same cougar that other people recently have reported seeing in the southern part of Bellingham,” said Sgt. Ralph Woods of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. “The animal is believed to have killed a goat and may have attacked other livestock.”

Wildlife agents have been trying for several weeks to find and capture the animal and relocate it away from the city and people. A trap has been set in an area where the animal has been spotted.
