Medical Lake Is Barrier To Perfect Season

The area’s final undefeated boys team fell Saturday, as Pullman ran into a stone wall named Jackson.

Andre Jackson scored 31 points, hitting 7 of 12 field goals in the first half, as Medical Lake (9-5, 6-2) defeated third-ranked Pullman 69-57 in a Great Northern League game at Medical Lake.

Jackson also hit 11 of 17 free throws, 6 of 10 in the final quarter.

Brandon Moore and Jeff Nichols combined for 23 rebounds for the Cardinals, who lost at Pullman last week.

ML held Brent Cummings of the Greyhounds (11-1, 7-1) to one first-half field goal, but the league’s scoring leader hit 12 of 16 free throws to finish with 21 points.

Steve Johnson scored 10 fourth-quarter points, including four free throws when the visiting Knights (2-14, 1-11) crept close, to allow the Bengals (14-3, 11-2) to tie idle Coeur d’Alene for first place.

Lewiston led by 15 with 4:14 left, but EV made up 10 points in the next 3 minutes. Lewiston’s Carson Egland scored his 23 points in the first three quarters and added 12 rebounds. EV’s Andrew Burgess, who scored 47 on Friday, scored 22 for a 34.5 average for the weekend.

Matt Miller scored 23, hitting 9 of 11 from the line, as the Scotties (13-5, 4-0) defeated the visiting Indians (11-7, 2-2) to clinch at least a tie for the league title.

Freeman had 10 steals and held Reardan without a field goal in the second quarter. Miller also shot 6 of 11 from the field, including two 3-pointers.
