It’s ‘Fallen,’ And It Can’t Get Up

Patrice Williamson Rogers

Slow-paced suspense is the catalyst for Denzel Washington’s latest cinematic endeavor, “Fallen.”

The movie was pretty good, but it would be wrong if I failed to mention that I almost fell asleep while watching it.

The idea that evil spirits carry out their vengeance in the bodies of humans, passed only by touch and human death, is the basis for the plot. It sounds eerie and intriguing, but the story moves so slowly, it’s difficult to be scared.

Another letdown in “Fallen” is John Goodman’s acting in the final scenes. It was terribly unconvincing. All through the film, I knew that there would be a showdown between Washington and Goodman, I just had no idea it would be so boring.

I was extremely eager to see this movie, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations because it induced sleep.
