Sub Leads Reign To Win

Astou Ndiaye came off the bench to score a career-high 26 points and spark the Seattle Reign to a 74-64 victory over the Philadelphia Rage Tuesday night in Seattle.

Ndiaye scored 10 points in the first quarter to key an 11-0 run for Seattle that put the Reign up 17-9. She also grabbed eight rebounds.

“It was fun tonight,” Ndiaye said of her performance for the Reign (12-26). “It’s been a rough season but we’re hanging in there.”

Shalonda Enis scored 14 for Seattle while Val Whiting finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Whiting hit the 1,000-point mark in her ABL career.

Seattle coach Tammy Holder praised Ndiaye, saying, “She has never lost her confidence. I’m pleased that she was able to show what she is capable of doing.”

Glory 94, Explosion 89

Teresa Edwards scored nine of her 37 points in the final 51 seconds, rallying Atlanta to victory over Colorado in Denver.

Edwards scored six points in the first half before getting an ABL record 31 in the second half.

Edwards made two free throws with 51 seconds left to bring the Glory within 86-85. She then hit a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to put Atlanta up 88-86. Teammate Stacey Lovelace then made two free throws and Edwards made four straight free throws, sandwiched around a 3-pointer by Colorado’s Crystal Robinson.

StingRays 85, Blizzard 70

At Long Beach, Calif., Yolanda Griffith scored 16 of her 25 points in the second half as Long Beach defeated visiting New England.

Long Beach (22-15) moved within one game of the idle Western Conference-leading Portland Power.
